For motors and rotating electrical assemblies designed with inch-size shafts, matching the bearing bore is only the starting point. Confirm the housing diameter, bearing width, operating speed, and radial or axial load. For repeat production, specify the full part number and required clearance so each order follows the same approved specification.

Inch ball bearings can support rotating parts in household appliances that use imperial mounting dimensions. When selecting a bearing for a fan, drive, or other rotating assembly, review noise and vibration requirements together with sealing, lubrication, and operating temperature. A close metric size should not be treated as an interchangeable replacement.

Lawn mowers and agricultural equipment are common applications for inch bearings. Outdoor service can introduce dust, moisture, vibration, and changing loads. Check the actual shaft and housing dimensions, then review the sealing and lubrication requirements for that location. The application name alone does not determine the correct bearing model.

Check all three dimensions: bore d × outside diameter D × width B. The selected sizes below are from ISK's inch bearing range. Inch dimensions are shown first; nominal millimetre values are included for reference.

| Bearing No. | Closure | Bore d (in) | Outside D (in) | Width B (in) | d × D × B (mm) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| R-6 | Open | 3/8 | 7/8 | 7/32 | 9.525 × 22.225 × 5.556 |
| R6-2RS | 2RS | 3/8 | 7/8 | 9/32 | 9.525 × 22.225 × 7.144 |
| R-8 | Open | 1/2 | 1-1/8 | 1/4 | 12.7 × 28.575 × 6.35 |
| R8-2RS | 2RS | 1/2 | 1-1/8 | 5/16 | 12.7 × 28.575 × 7.938 |
| R-10 | Open | 5/8 | 1-3/8 | 9/32 | 15.875 × 34.925 × 7.144 |
| R10-2RS | 2RS | 5/8 | 1-3/8 | 11/32 | 15.875 × 34.925 × 8.731 |
| R-16 | Open | 1 | 2 | 3/8 | 25.4 × 50.8 × 9.525 |
Same bore does not mean the same fit. For example, R-8 and R8-2RS share a 1/2-inch bore and 1-1/8-inch outside diameter, but their widths differ. Check the exact model and suffix before ordering.
This is a partial size list, not a stock-availability statement. Millimetre values follow ISK's published product specifications. Confirm dimensions, tolerances, load ratings, and speed limits against the selected product specification before approval.

Inch ball bearing supply for industrial bulk orders and custom projects.

Inch bearings use imperial dimensions, typically expressed in fractions or decimal inches. This page focuses on inch deep groove ball bearings, including selected R-series models. They suit assemblies designed around inch-size shafts and housings. Inch sizing describes the dimension system; it does not by itself specify accuracy, load capacity, material, or operating speed.

An inch deep groove ball bearing contains an inner ring, outer ring, balls, and a cage that separates the balls. The raceways support radial loads and axial loads in both directions within the selected bearing’s limits. Rolling contact supports low-friction rotation; achievable torque, speed, and service life also depend on load, lubrication, fit, and closure design.

Both models have a 1/2-inch bore and a 1-1/8-inch outside diameter. However, the open R-8 is 1/4 inch wide, while R8-2RS is 5/16 inch wide. That extra 1/16 inch changes the assembly space required. This size comparison illustrates why adding seals cannot be assumed to leave all dimensions unchanged.
Open, ZZ, or 2RS? An open bearing has no integral shields or seals; ZZ generally indicates metal shields on both sides, while 2RS generally indicates seals on both sides. Review contamination exposure, grease retention, and running torque, then confirm the exact closure design for the chosen model. A sealed bearing is not automatically suitable for washdown or immersion.
A complete inquiry helps our team assess the bearing and supply requirements together. Include the information you have; if a specification is still undecided, describe the operating conditions.
For custom projects, share the requirement that a standard bearing cannot meet. Size, material, lubrication, and sealing options can be reviewed against your drawing and operating conditions. Feasibility, minimum order quantity, pricing, and lead time are confirmed for the requested specification.
