The 696 is a miniature deep groove ball bearing measuring 6mm bore, 15mm OD, and 5mm width. OPEN means no shield and no seal — the raceways on both sides are exposed. With no built-in closure, the sources of running resistance are relatively simple, and it keeps the flexibility to be greased later or fed by a shared external lubrication design. Whether it ships pre-lubricated depends on the actual supply specification. Open designs like this are commonly found in positions where the housing or mechanism already provides its own dust cover, enclosure, or dedicated lubrication.
