The 685ZZ is the double metal-shielded version of the 685 miniature deep groove ball bearing, with a 5 mm bore, 11 mm outside diameter and 5 mm width. The ZZ shields on both sides are non-contact, providing a barrier against larger external particles. Because the shields do not touch the inner ring, running resistance is generally lower than on a contact-sealed (2RS) version. This structure is often seen in clean or semi-clean environments that need some dust protection while keeping rotational drag down. Suitability still depends on the actual operating conditions.
Non-contact metal shields help hold back solid particles such as dust, but their ability to keep out moisture, liquids or very fine powder is limited. So the main points to confirm here are the type of contamination in your environment, along with speed and temperature ranges. If the environment is mainly dry dust and you want to keep rotational drag lower, the ZZ can be considered; if liquids or humid conditions are involved, it's worth discussing whether a contact-sealed version would suit better.
To help confirm whether the 685ZZ suits your application, it helps to share: (1) the type of contamination in your environment (dust / moisture / liquid); (2) operating speed; (3) operating temperature range. If you already have a part number, drawing or sample, feel free to include it, and ISK will help evaluate.
Some non-standard or currently out-of-stock bearings may not be immediately available. If you have specific requirements, feel free to contact us — we will do our best to confirm lead times and provide alternative solutions.
