The 6000ZZ, supplied by ISK Bearings, is the metal-shielded version of the 6000 series, in the same 10×26×8 mm envelope. It carries a metal shield on each side in a non-contact arrangement — a small gap remains between the shield and the inner ring, so they do not touch. This helps keep out larger contaminants while avoiding the added rolling resistance a contacting seal lip would introduce. Actual protection still depends on the operating environment, so it's worth confirming against your duty conditions.
Metal shields are aimed mainly at larger dry particulates. Their intent for holding back fine dust, water vapour or liquids differs from that of a contact seal such as the 2RS. If your environment also involves higher humidity or liquid splash, it helps to first confirm the type of contamination and the running conditions before deciding whether ZZ fits, or whether another shielding approach should be evaluated.
